About the author - Thomas Atchison, PhD. is Professor Emeritus at Stephen F Austin State University here in Nacogdoches, Texas. "Dr Tom", as we call him, is active in the Nacogdoches Amateur Radio Club, helps out as an Elmer, is a Rover VHF Contester Extraordinaire, an ARRL Volunteer Examiner, and currently serves as the Club's Vice President. Dr. Tom was licensed in 1953 as WN5AER. When he passed his General Exam he changed his call to W5AER, then finally to W5TV.
